The Bistro Guy: Review

Merry Friday Everyone,

As we all celebrate the Friday feeling we may need some good hearty food over the weekend and I ventured outside my regular food outlets.

I absolutely love brunch spots and in my home city of York we are blessed to have many incredible places to choose from. If you haven’t already go and check out my post where I list some of my favourites: Best Brunch Spots in York.

I am always keeping my eyes open for brand new places opening up and it seems like here in York more and more are popping up. I took a drive with my mum and sister and passed through Gillygate; a street just past the Art Gallery in York that is on your way out of the city centre. I don’t tend to walk that way very often so I did not know the amount of lovely looking food & drink spots down there.

One of which caught my eye and that is The Bistro Guy.

The Bistro Guy:

Guy opened up this Cafe Bar back in September 2011 with his family. It has such a lovely friendly atmosphere and it is also dog-friendly with an outside seating area perfect for those lovely long summer nights.

I ventured here with my friend for a spot of girly lunch. We were warmly welcomed in and there is an area outside where you can go and sit. The day was a bit overcast but fairly warm so we thought ‘why not’.

The menu has really great choices and at first I was tempted by their Mozzarella and Ham Sandwich. They also offer a breakfast menu perfect for brunch outings which is served until 11:30.

We ordered the Sharing Platter which was £12.00 for home cooked meat & salmon, Yorkshire cheeses, homemade hummus & spicy chutney. It was also served with lovely artisan bread and a selection of salad. It was all really fresh and definitely good value for money and great just to eat over a catch-up with a friend.

I also noticed out of the corner of my eye, a pizza oven…for fresh pizza. I have just returned from Italy so seeing that immediately let me know that I will be going back very very soon.

A few details:

Their opening hours are Monday to Sunday 10:00am-16:00pm.

On Wednesday Nights they have a Log Fire Pizza & Cocktail night from 18:00pm-23:00pm which sounds amazing and Sign me up for that!

On Thursday, Friday & Saturday Nights they serve dinner from 18:30pm-20:30pm.

Their Bistro Menu are small dishes blended with a Japanese taste. It would be perfect to go with a group of family or friends or on a date. I can imagine on an evening it will have such a calm relaxing atmosphere I would highly recommend it.

They use Yorkshire produce wherever they can and that is one of the great parts about venturing and spending money in local businesses where you live as you know the money is going back into your local community.

Check out their website & take a look at their menus, trust me you will not regret it, although looking at their pizza menu has made me very hungry: https://www.bistroguy.co.uk

I will also be venturing to more new places as I am currently on a little bit of a break until I will be going back to University in September so I am taking some time to put more effort into this blog. If there is anything you would like to see then let me know!
